Today the County Commissioners approved the selection of Bucky Austin Racing for lease operator of the Motorsports Park. The next step is for Bucky Austin Racing and the County to work on the contractual negotiations. The goal I’m hearing is that both sides hope the contractual negotations can be completed in the next 4-6 weeks.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackbackafter going over some of the stuff i had been worried about, i am THRILLED that bucky is coming to town. he is a very nice guy to talk to and very racer friendly!! HOORAY!
This is byron parmenter of the Krohn Parmenter & Rue Hall of Fame Drag racing team i know the county done the right thing in selecting Bucky Austin to run the race track he has run his top Funny car at alot of drag strips in. i dont think that they could have made a better choice
the country and knows what it takes to run one also a very well known buisness man with his Bucky muffler shop all around the state

This will be good for racers! The track was busy back in the 80’s with plenty of racers.
Jay is the one man to hire to run a track. Hard working, takes no BS from anyone and lays down the rules. He was a racer and knows how to treat racers so they feel wanted and want to come back! This looks good!
All I can say is WOW!!! We are so close to having a true professional venue for all racers.
There is one more thing we must do,,,,,,VOTE!!
Make sure you vote as your vote will continue to be an important part of the future success of the track.
Thank you, Mark & Todd for picking Bucky. I know he’s the right one to run the track. It is sad that Orville lost the rack but he brought it on himself. Now the racers can have fun again, we can get rid of some of the street racing.
I haven’t raced in Spokane for several years.I’ve traveled thousands of miles every year to race on professional run race tracks. Now that Buckey Austin will operate the track I will look forward to coming home to race.If the rumor is true that Jay Livingston will run the track for Buckey that is frosting on the cake.Thank you Tod,Mark and Spokane County.
Were glad to see Bucky be the one to step up and support the new SMP tracks with his vision of the place . We are sure to have a great facility for racing events coming threw little Spokane in the future , just like Skate America and the Spokane Shock have done , Bucky and others now will acomplish what the Moe man didn’t try to do , Bring FANS to Spokane’s Motels and Hotels / Dinning , I’m sorry to say to bad to NASCAR you could of had your West Coast Bristol track right here but Mr Lynch from ISC didn’t want to listen to myself 4 years ago when we all new it was done for and the gig was up for the Moe Man .
Kick ass Bucky & Jay and Thanks to Oj Stephens for all his effort to relay messages to the people in the know ! , Now Lets go racing in 2009 the we’ll be ready .
Big A and everyone

Todd and Mark,
It was a pleasure working with you guys on the board, and for your purchase of the property, I think you made a great decision to work with Bucky and Jay. I have had contact with both, and I think the racers will pleasantly be surprised with all the improvements that will be done to the facility, congrats once again,It’s exciting to have an NHRA sactioned track just 20 minutes away

This is a very exciting time to be invloved with motorsports in Spokane. Several years ago my interest in drag racing was sparked by a local racer with a fast mustang (thanks Tom!).
I have since put alot of time and energy into building my own car and now I will be able to drive just a few miles for a professional, safe, racetrack. I can’t wait for 2009!!!
I think we racers should buy a plaque with Todd and Mark’s name on it and install it at the track so future racers will know who helped save it. These guys risked their political careers to do the right thing. Their courage, foresight, intelligence and optimism should be acknowledged.
Glad to hear the track seems to be going in the right direction. I look forward to coming over to the “Sunny Side’ of the state in the future.
Glad the County did the correct thing !!
Great selection! For S.M.P. ( B. A. ) I’m looking foward to racing once again @ Spokane.

Excellent news! We live in Oregon and race at Woodburn but we are from Spokane and care about the community. We will certainly travel to Spokane with our car to compete regularly.
