thats great news!!!!
well its awesome that somebodys going to run the track, but nhra legal? 3/4 of us will be turned away!
Scooter, you might be right about many cars not passing NHRA tech. I don’t like several of NHRA’s safety rules but most of their rules are good. I believe we all want to see a large turnout of cars to support the track but the cars must be safe.

hopefully nhra legal. the safety is #1 yes the saftey requierments are higher than ahra for good reason. & to run a track like it should be run . make it part of divison 6
NHRA = Safe drag racing for all of us!
Okay, so who’s going to EVER mention racing on the oval again? Just like it was before the sale of the track, all the focus is on the drag strip and road course. Other than the World Finals and Jet car shows, there was always more spectators on the oval side. Who’s going to step up to that plate?
yes i agree with you john we do need the turnouts. right now i am trying to help arrange to bring an nhra tech guy here later this fall and maybe try and round up 20+ cars and he can give some us up a helping hand and some pointers. and to fever racing, yes i agree with you as well i know seval modified drivers scratching their heads any news ont he roundy side would be much appreciated…

The circle track future is also looking up.
Austin is very interested in operating the cirlce track and it is a key component to his proposal. ther have been discussions w/ NASCAR camping world series as well as other groups.
I will ask Jay Livingston to post on this site with some input. Jay will be the track operator.
buckys the right man for the job tnks mark and tood tnks pro gas guys for showing wat can happen 200000 in four races
NHRA tracks will bring bigger and better events. Bucky should try and get some races that would involve racers from the west side.
AS PRESIDENT OF THE PRO GAS ASSOC WE SUPPORT BUCKY AND JAY COMPLETELY. IT MAY BE HARD FOR A WHILE TO MEET TECH AND USHER IN NEW WAYS BUT IN THE LONG RUN THIS WILL BE THE BEST THING FOR SPOKANE. THE PRO GAS ASSOC WILL VOLUNTEER ANYWAY WE CAN TO MAKE SURE THE TRANSFORMATION TO AN NHRA TRACK WILL BE AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE. JAY HAS ASSURED US HE WOULD WORK WITH THE RACERS OF THE SPOKANE AREA TO MAKE SURE WE ARE SAFE AND HAVE A GOOD PLACE TO RACE. THANKS LEW MCARTHUR
well if were goin to NHRA…then where can we get a NHRA rulebook of some sort so that we can all start getting ready for these “new” and much safer rules??? my dad and i are very excited hearing that “austin” has bought the track but i also want to be able to race at his track and im thinking that my car is on the edge of AT LEAST needing a cage…
For about $35.00 you can become a member of the NHRA and recieve the weekly news paper , National Dragster, and a rule book which will be available in late Dec or early January.
Until then look up the NHRA on line as there is a ton of info there including the Division 6 ( our division ) contacts for tech etc who will help you any way they can. Jay Lingston has told me that there will be public meeting for all drag racers coming up in probably Jan. at which the NHRA will be in attendance and answer questions etc..
To all those that fear NHRA and there tech’s, it really is no big deal. Yes, some things are overboard, like new belts every two years, but you can get around it, like selling your old belts on Ebay. I always get what I paid for the new ones when I sell the old ones. Street cars love them.
Most the cars I saw while teching this year, really weren’t that far off. They just needed a little tweaking. If your car is a little too fast, and needs a bar, slow it down, till you can afford one. No one wants to go slower, but do you want to race? I would rather slow my car to 12:0’s and race, then sit on the bench and talk about how I can run 9’s.
With change, comes uncertainty. NHRA tech’s are not a bunch of guys hassling you, they are also racer’s, trying to make it safer, and keeping YOU safe. I have found, that when tech’s seem difficult, it is our attitudes that are making them defensive. Work with them, most of them will work with you.
The best thing to do, is get a rule book from NHRA or call there tech line, they are always willing to answer any questions, even if you think it is a stupid one.Fix the basic things, like neutral safety switch, batt. cut off, drive shaft loops braided fuel lines etc.Try to figure out how to make it work, rather then wasting time trying to figure out why you can’t make it work! It really isn’t that complicated.
Spokane has been too lax, for too long, this is why it seems so hard now.Last summer we were trying to get people up to speed (no pun intended) to what was to come.Spokane, has also been very lucky thus far, that something serious has not happened.
Now, back to the practice tree, we got some serious racing coming.$$$$$$$ Do you smell cash? Ask Randy Ray, Randy Reynolds, or Bob Hallock
I AM THRILLED THAT OUR TRACK HAS A FUTURE!!!! I STARTED RACING 3YRS AGO, AND HAVE DEVELOPED A CONNECTION WITH SIR. I HAVE MET ALOT OF TERRIFIC PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST AS PASSIONATE ABOUT RACING AS I AM. NHRA RULES EXIST FOR A REASON. THEY WILL KEEP US SAFE AND EVEN THOUGH IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE, THERE ARE CARS AND RACING TEAMS WHO HAVE AVOIDED OUR TRACK BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY FELT LIKE WAS A LACK OF SAFETY. PERSONALLY, I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT HURT ONE OF MY FELLOW RACERS. AS A RACER I SAY THAT WE EMBRACE THESE NEW RULES, ENJOY THE FACELIFT THAT OUR TRACK IS GOING TO GET, AND “TEAR IT UP IN 2009!!!!”
Thanks again for all the help putting together a nhra track. My family has always hope it would happen someday. We have been attending both AHRA and NHRA for years. We will love the change. I am planning on doing some racing this year myself and look forward to the constructive critisism to make my vehicle safer. I have a wife and two kids, they have a father….and I want to keep it that way. We’ll see how a top notch mud dragger converts to asphalt! Check out my site.
I have raced at track’s that both bucky & Jay have ran, Jay was asked to leave Pacific raceway
The car count dropped so low he was not asked to come back the next year. The same with Bucky and his fire smoke & thunder race. believe it when you see it is all i;m saying. I hope i’m wrong we need more track’s
