Saturday and Sunday - Hot Rod Nationals (1972 & Older Cars). Saturday racing start at 9 am. AA/Supercharged, Top Eliminator Dragsters and Pro Nostalgia will run at 12 noon, 2:30 pm, 4:30 pm. Sunday eliminations will start at 12 noon. Classes will include Hot Rod 1 (7.50 to 11.99, No Electronics, 1954 & Earlier), Hot Rod 2 (12.00 & Slower, No Electronics, 1954 & Earlier), Street Machine 1 (7.50 to 11.99, No Electronics, 1955 thru 1972), Street Machine 2 (12.00 & Slower, No Electronics, 1955 thru 1972) and Competition (7.50 & Slower, Electronics, 1972 & Older).

UPDATE: The raceway has opened up the event to all cars 1979 and older, or drivers born before 1980.

This weekend Spokane County Raceway will host a double-header weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will be ET Drag Racing Series #6 & #7, classes will include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Bike/Sled, Trophy and Jr. Dragsters on Saturday only.  Also included this weekend will be the Pacific Northwest Super Comp Assoc. and Spokane Pro Gas running both Super Gas and Super Street.  Prices for this weekend will be Super Pro $45 or $85 for 2 days, Pro $40 or $75 for 2 days, Sportsman $40 or $75 for 2 days, Bike/Sled $40 or $75 for 2 days, Trophy is $25, and Jr. Dragsters $25.  As for Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street, the price is $25 a day, then you pay the Pacific Northwest Super Comp Assoc fee to run Super Comp.  With Super Gas and Super Street you pay the Spokane Pro Gas Assoc. their entry fee for Super Gas and Super Street.   If you are a racer that is currently earning points at Spokane County Raceway and would like to run Super Comp, Super Gas or Super Street this weekend, you need to come to the tower and let Jason Murray know and he will explain how it will work.  Another thing is if you are interested in running both Super Pro and a Super Class then you will need to pay the regular Super Pro entry fee, plus the $25 to run the Super Class and whatever the Assoc. fee is.  If you have any questions please call the Spokane County Raceway office at 509-244-3333.

Spokane County Raceway kicks off the 2009 race season with the Season Opener, the first major drag race of the year in the inland northwest. The event will feature, for the first time ever at the Season Opener, 250 MPH Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars driven by Bucky Austin and Garrett Bateman, as well as a full field of Nostalgia Alcohol Funny Cars.

Spokane County Raceway will host one of the largest Pro Mod races on the West Coast. Some of the biggest names in the game will be on hand this weekend, like Rick Distefano, Dennis Radford, Rod Pearce, Lee Smith, and Spokane’s own Tim Mann, who pilots a supercharged ’63 Corvette.

The first Summit ET Points Race will be held on the dragstrip at Spokane County Raceway on Sunday, May 10th. Gates open at 8:00am.

Tonight (May 1st) is the season opener for the street legal drags. Gates open at 5pm. Racing starts at 5:30pm. Racer entry fee is $20. Spectators are $10. Racers will also be required to have a 2009 Spokane County Raceway competition car number. The cost for this is $5 and is good for the entire season.

A friendly reminder that on Saturday, April 25th starting at 9:00am there will be a pre-season NHRA Tech Inspection held at Spokane County Raceway. Even if you don’t bring your car out for inspection, you’ll want to be sure to register it and get your 2009 Spokane County Raceway competition number. The cost for the Spokane County Raceway competition number is $5. All cars will be required to have either an NHRA competition number or a local Spokane County Raceway number. So, save yourself some time on your first day out at the races and stop by the raceway on April 25th and register for your car number. If you want to run in the Summit ET Points Series you will also be able to sign up. The cost to sign up for the points series is $20.

There was a huge turnout today for the NHRA Inspection held at Dealers Auto Auction. More than 80 cars went through NHRA tech inspection. In addition more than 100 racers signed up for Spokane County Raceway Competition Car Numbers, and more than 60 signed up to participate in the Summit ET Points Series.

Due to the overwhelming response and the expressed desire by many racers to have another one prior to the season opener, a second NHRA Inspection Day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 25th from 9am - 5pm at the Spokane County Raceway.

The new web site for the Spokane County Raceway (yes that is the new name of the facility) is up and live at http://www.spokanecountyraceway.com.

I spoke with Jay Livingston and the plan is to get information up on that site as quickly as they are able to. I know a lot of you have questions about when the season will open, whether there will be oval and/or road racing etc.

My understanding is that Friday Night Street Legal drags will be held Friday, May 1st.

The Summit Racing ET Point series first race is currently scheduled for Sunday, May 10th.

There will be road and oval track racing as well. I don’t have any firm dates for the opening of those at this point, but I would expect those to be in the same general timeframes.
